Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10) released the following statement on the House passage of H.R. 5, The Parents Bill of Rights. This bill codifies the basic tenets of parents' right to be informed and involved in decisions that impact the education and well-being of their children.
“It is well established that parental involvement is critical to the development and success of students," said Congressman McHenry. "Despite this fact, administrators and politicians across the country have ignored and belittled parents at the behest of activist teachers unions. Parents must be empowered to demand the best for their children. Today, House Republicans continue to make good on ourpromise to put students first as part of our Commitment to America."
