Today Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10) released the following statement on his vote against the Senate gun control legislation:
“The right to keep and bear arms is a foundational principle of our nation. During my time in public service, I have always maintained that I will never vote to infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans. Significant portions of the bill I voted against today have the potential to do just that. While there are some noble efforts included in the bill to address mental health, most of those provisions are redundant of legislation the House has already passed.”
