McHenry’s Pro-Growth Record Recognized by U.S. Chamber

Today, the office of Congressman Patrick McHenry announced that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has honored the Congressman with its Spirit of Enterprise Award for his support of pro-growth legislation during the second session of the 110th Congress.

“Last year in particular, Congress had to make some tough choices, and Patrick McHenry clearly demonstrated his commitment to the economy and keeping America competitive in an ever-changing global market,” said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. “The Chamber is proud to present Congressman McHenry with the Spirit of Enterprise Award on behalf of businesses large and small.”

Eligibility for the award is based on how members of Congress vote on key issues affecting economic growth.  Congressman McHenry scored a 78% rating with the Chamber this year and collectively holds an 84% ranking during his tenure in Congress.

“These are difficult times that require policies from Washington that will help spur economic growth.  It is foolish to think that we can simply tax, spend and borrow our way back to prosperity.  We must harness the ingenuity of entrepreneurs and small businesses to create jobs and begin rebuilding the economy of Western North Carolina,” stated Congressman McHenry.

The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses of every size, sector, and region.   More than 96% of U.S. Chamber members are small businesses with 100 employees or fewer.
