President Biden and Congressional Democrats are crippling our economic recovery. Despite inheriting what should have been a booming economy and promising that President Biden's so-called American Rescue Plan would "yield significant economic returns," they have given us labor shortages, record inflation, and weak growth. Inflation is at an over 40-year high and America's GDP decreased at an annual rate of 1.4% in the first quarter of 2022, the worse rate since the pandemic recovery began. Economic recovery was just another broken promise from Democrats.

During last week's Financial Services Committee hearing on the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) I highlighted the need to protect Americans' civil liberties. FinCEN is one of the biggest data collectors in the U.S. Government, yet how they collect, manage, and allow access to that data remains a mystery. At the hearing, Committee Republicans and I demanded accountability for FinCEN’s broad statutory authority, transparency for its collection of Americans’ financial data, and protection for small businesses from overly burdensome beneficial ownership regulations. Click here or on the image below to watch my opening remarks.

Drugs Are Flooding Our Communities Thanks to Radical Open Border Policies

Fentanyl overdoses are now the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45 years old. Earlier this month, the DEA even warned of a “nationwide spike” in fentanyl overdose deaths. Where is this deadly drug coming from? The majority of America's fentanyl is being smuggled across our southern border and into our communities. In fact, in FY21, 11,201 pounds of fentanyl were seized by Customs and Border Protection, which is enough to kill every American nearly seven times over. We need to protect American lives and secure our border. Instead, President Biden is implementing radical policies that will only make this crisis worse.

Top Shelf Fishin' Festival: Veterans treated to day of angling on Lake Norman

Recently, the annual Top Shelf Fishin’ Festival took place on Lake Norman and gave more than 60 veterans the opportunity to join a professional fisherman on the water for a day at no cost to the veterans. Today and every day I am thankful for the service of our nation's veterans and loved hearing about the many ways the Mooresville community joined in to help support the festival and to participate in a fun and unique way of showing their appreciation to our nation's veterans.
