Gas Crisis

As this graph demonstrates, gas has never been more expensive. Today, the average price of gas in North Carolina is $4.37 a gallon, one of the highest prices ever recorded. In fact, prices have topped $4 a gallon in every single state. Instead of working to ease the burden at the pump and supporting American energy independence, Democrats are actively pursuing far-left policies that will make gas even more expensive. This is unacceptable.

Today marked the thirteenth day in a row the price for a gallon of gas has hit a new all-time high. But instead of legislation that actually addresses this growing crisis, Democrats introduced a bill that is an attempt to pass the blame to anyone but themselves. On Thursday, I voted against this bill because it does nothing to help relieve the suffering of American families caused by these exorbitant prices.

Yet, thanks to the Democrats’ far-left agenda, that job has become far more dangerous. Border Crisis

Since President Biden took office, there have been more than 2.6 million illegal immigrants apprehended at our southern border. April was the worst month in US history with over 234,088 border encounters. That is a 1,268% increase from April 2020. These shocking numbers come as the Biden administration prepares to lift Title 42, one of our strongest tools against illegal immigration, in less than a week. This is reckless and irresponsible. The continuously rising numbers are proof that Americans need policies that will help secure our border, not make the crisis worse.

Last week, for National Police Week, our Tenth District law enforcement officers were honored for their dedication to keeping us safe. In Iredell County, a ceremony was held to remember ten county officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in their service to their community. The Tenth District is blessed to have these brave men and women in each of our local law enforcement agencies who protect and defend us each and every day.

Hickory climbed 21 spots from last year based on factors such as quality of life, low crime rates, educational opportunities, and how many people want to move to Hickory.
