My Thought's On President Biden's State of the Union

During Tuesday's State of the Union, President Biden did what he does best: ignore the realities facing every day Americans in favor of political theater and progressive goals. Read my full statement on President Biden’s State of the Union by clicking here or on the image below.

Welcoming the Tenth District to Washington

One of the highlights of my job is meeting with folks from the Tenth District that have come up to Washington. This week, I had the opportunity to sit down with Lenoir Rhyne University President Dr. Fred Whitt. Lenoir Rhyne is doing an excellent job not only educating the next generation, but also creating a community for its students in the greater Catawba County region. Thank you for the work you do Dr. Whitt!

On Wednesday, I enjoyed meeting with Appalachian State Chancellor Sheri Everts to discuss the opening of their new campus in Hickory. This new campus is going to give the Catawba County community access to a premier education right in their own backyard. Grateful for all the work you are doing to help the Tenth District grow Chancellor Everts!

Later that day I had the opportunity to meet with some of the law enforcement officers that protect and serve our great state. Thank you to the North Carolina Fraternal Order of Police for meeting with me about the important work their members do to keep us safe. I am proud to support these brave men and women and to be their advocate here in Washington.

Combatting the Economic Threat From China

As the recent incursion from one a Chinese spy balloon illustrated, China is not an ally or a strategic partner. They are our competitor and pose the single greatest threat to America’s global standing. This past week, the Financial Services Committee held our first meeting of the new Congress and it was focused on combatting the economic threat from China. We know, we must outcompete China on the global stage by reinforcing American values, rather than undermining them. Watch my opening remarks by clicking here or on the image below.

We cannot allow bad actors like China to dominate global energy financing. This week, I was proud to join my friend Congressman French Hill in reintroducing the International Nuclear Energy Financing Act. This legislation will help combat the Chinese Communist Party’s malign influence abroad. Click here or on the image below to learn more about this critically important legislation.

Congressional App Challenge

Congratulations to Mooresville’s Yunjia Quan on winning this year’s Tenth Congressional District Congressional App Challenge with her app Habit Cash. As an advocate for blockchain technologies, I was especially impressed she wrote a Whitepaper for Habitcoins. I am grateful for students like Yunjia who are using their intellect and skills to improve blockchain technologies and contribute to the digital asset space. What I've Been Reading

Hear Viewmont Elementary students in Hickory sing Philadelphia Eagles fight song for player headed to Super Bowl

Hickory Daily Record

Viewmont Elementary in Hickory wished Philadelphia Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson, a former Viewmont student, a very special good luck for the Super Bowl. Mrs. Creger's second-grade class sang the Eagles fight song in a video for Landon. What makes this message even more special is that Mrs. Creger was also Landon's first-grade teacher when he attended Viewmont. Good luck today Landon!

Record numbers of people are worse off, a recipe for political discontent: POLL

ABC News

Despite the Biden Administration's efforts to mislead the public about the state of our economy, a record number of Americans say they are worse off since President Biden took office. It is clear Democrats' economic plan isn't helping hardworking families.

It is incredible to see how the East Lincoln Middle School community has rallied around one of their own, Jack Stetz, who is undergoing treatment for a rare tumor that was discovered after he had a seizure.
