ICYMI: McHenry Joins Fox Business to Discuss the Coronavirus & the Financial Transaction Tax

Yesterday, Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10), the Republican Leader of the House Financial Services Committee, joined Connell McShane on Fox Business’ After the Bell to discuss how Congress is responding to the Coronavirus and working to ensure President Trump, health officials, and local communities have the tools and resources they need to keep people safe.

McHenry also discussed the Financial Transaction Tax (FTT), a bad policy that—despite Democrats’ claims that it would only impact the wealthiest investors—would harm middle-income Americans saving for important life events like their retirement, their child’s college education, or their first home. One study indicates that with the imposition of an FTT, a typical mutual fund investor may have to work an additional two-and-a-half years to achieve the same retirement goal. Click here to read a letter McHenry sent to House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters calling for a hearing on the potentially devastating impact of the proposed Financial Transaction Tax on Americans' retirement savings.
