Today, Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10) released the following statement on House passage of the bipartisan Conference Report to accompany S. 1790 – National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020:

"Today’s vote is a big win for our troops and helps fulfill our responsibility in the House to provide for a strong national defense. Included in the NDAA is the biggest pay raise the brave men and women of the U.S. military have received in the last ten years. Additionally, today’s vote brings us another step towards closing the readiness gap, ensuring our military is prepared to defend our nation at a moment’s notice. 

"Beyond supporting our troops, this bill includes funding to help North Carolina military installations recover from hurricane damage, implements sanctions to help cripple the operations of opioid traffickers that are fueling the devastating epidemic here in our country, and provides resources for our continued efforts against ISIS and other hostile actors around the world. I will always work to ensure our military men and women have the resources they need and today’s bipartisan vote helps achieve that goal."
