Congressman McHenry Weekly Update Accountability For the Recent Bank FailuresThe American people deserve answers from federal regulators about their actions as it relates to recent bank failures. This week, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing to get to the bottom of what happened and when decisions were made for regulators to take the actions they did. Before we consider legislation, we must establish the facts. Accountability For the Recent Bank Failures

The American people deserve answers from federal regulators about their actions as it relates to recent bank failures. This week, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing to get to the bottom of what happened and when decisions were made for regulators to take the actions they did. Before we consider legislation, we must establish the facts. Voting to Lower Energy Costs

President Biden inherited a country on the path to energy independence. He not only stopped us in our tracks – he put our nation in reverse. This week, I joined my House Republican colleagues to pass H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, to bring relief to those struggling with soaring energy costs and put us back on track to achieve energy independence. By unleashing American energy, we can deliver jobs and lower costs to the American people while strengthening our national security. Click here to read my full statement on passage of H.R. 1 and learn more about the bill.

Supporting America's Working Dogs

It was an honor to host Sully, Biscuit, and a few of their friends from America’s VetDogs at the Capitol this week in support of the Working Dog Commemorative Coin Act. This bill not only commemorates the service of these incredible animals as they work alongside our troops and law enforcement helping to keep us safe, but the assistance they provide to wounded veterans when they return home. Additionally, all surcharges from the sale of the coins will go to America’s VetDogs to unsure they can continue providing these life-changing dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities.

The Tenth District Here In Washington

I always enjoy when folks from the Tenth District are able to visit my office in Washington. The North Carolina League of Municipalities came by the Washington office on Monday to discuss the challenges facing cities and towns across North Carolina. It was especially great to see current NCLM President and Kings Mountain Mayor Scott Neisler.

Later that day, some of Mooresville’s elected leaders dropped by my Washington office to discuss transportation issues in our area and update me on the latest news from the community. Thank you to everyone for stopping by!

You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to see more pictures and stay up to date on what is happening in Washington and in the Tenth District.

What I've Been Reading

Trump indicted after Manhattan DA probe for hush money payments

Fox News

The weaponization of government should be concerning for all Americans, regardless of ideology. We must be safe from political or personal retribution at the hands of government. In this instance, it appears D.A. Bragg is using his office to target a political opponent, make good on a campaign promise, and achieve a long-held goal of national Democrats. This action will only serve to further erode Americans trust in government.

Biden reveals which states he is targeting in spending blitz — and 2024

Washington Examiner

President Biden visited North Carolina to “tout” the Inflation Reduction Act. There’s only one problem: this bill did nothing to reduce inflation and only exacerbated the issues my constituents are facing as they struggle to afford gas, groceries, and more.

9 soldiers killed in Army helicopter training crash in Kentucky

NBC News

I was deeply saddened to hear about the training crash that tragically took the lives of nine soldiers on Wednesday. Please join me in praying for their families and loved ones. Today and every day I am grateful for the service and sacrifice of our brave military men and women.

CNN

Please join me in praying for those impacted by the devastating tornadoes that have left many dead in Mississippi and other Midwest and southern states over the last couple weeks. Thank you to all the first responders who answered the call during last week's storms and to all who are working to help rebuild their communities.
