Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

2019 Town Hall Meeting Schedule

This August, I will be holding my annual town hall meetings here in the Tenth District. During the town hall meetings, I will give an update on recent legislative activity in the U.S. Congress and what to expect in the coming months. I also look forward to taking questions directly from Tenth District residents on the issues that are important to you and your communities. Additionally, my staff will be available at the town hall meetings to meet privately with constituents who have issues with federal agencies such as the Social Security Administration, the Department of Veterans Affairs, or the Internal Revenue Service. FS Hearing on Facebook's Project Libra

On Wednesday, the Financial Services Committee held a hearing on Facebook’s recently announced digital currency proposal, Project Libra. During the hearing I had the opportunity to share my thoughts on the financial innovation and inclusion this technology can bring. Watch my opening remarks for yesterday’s hearing by clicking here or on the image below.

I also had the opportunity to ask questions about how Facebook plans to comply with existing regulation, which you can watch by clicking here or on the image below. Click here to learn more about Wednesday's hearing.

Nature Conservancy Roundtable

After a busy week in DC, it was good to be home in North Carolina where, on Friday, I enjoyed participating in a roundtable discussion sponsored by the Nature Conservancy. The dialogue highlighted the business perspective on climate change, both the risks and the business opportunities in climate solutions.

Last week House Democrats voted to pass the Raise the Wage Act, a one size fits all bill that would be harmful to families here in the Tenth District and all across the country. The Congressional Budget Office conducted a study on this bad bill that determined 3.7 million jobs could be lost and 42 percent of families with a minimum wage earner in the household could see their total family income reduced. Click here to learn more about how this bill would hurt Americans courtesy of the Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.
