Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Standing Up Against China

For decades American leaders have tried to bring China – and more specifically the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) – into the international community as a responsible partner by expanding our economic relationship with them and, unfortunately, often turning a blind eye to their malign actions. This must end. Recently House Republicans' China Task Force released its report highlighting the actions Congress and the Administration can take now to help the United States best confront the growing threat of the Chinese Communist Party. Read the full report by clicking here.

On Wednesday, I was disappointed House Democrats blocked passage of my amendment that would have made H.R. 6270 more than just a political talking point. It is important to stand against China and hold them accountable for their human rights abuses against the Uyghur people. Watch the speech I delivered on the House Floor in support of my amendment and calling for Congress to actually take action against the threat of the Chinese Communist Party by clicking here or on the image below.

Rebuilding Our Economy

Until the pandemic hit, Americans were enjoying the greatest economy in a generation with record unemployment, more jobs, and rising wages. Now American workers and businesses are facing unprecedented hardships. As part of our Commitment to America, House Republicans will get the American people back to work and continue supporting small businesses and those who have been hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic.
