Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Celebrating Flag Day

Ever since the stars and stripes became our official flag on this day in 1777, it has flown as a symbol of freedom here in the United States and all across the globe. In these uncertain times, I am thankful for all that our flag stands for. Please join me in celebrating this historic day, our flag, and this country we are blessed to call our own.

Remembering What Happened Three Years Ago

Three years ago today, the actions of U.S. Capitol Police officers saved the life of my friend Congressman Steve Scalise and many others on a baseball field. Today and everyday, I am thankful for the brave men and women of law enforcement here in the Tenth District who put their lives on the line to keep us safe. Click here or on the image below for a video from Congressman Scalise honoring those who saved his life three years ago.

Today is also World Blood Donor Day. In these uncertain times, giving blood is a way we can support our communities here at home. Giving blood can help save lives like those of Congressman Scalise and so many others. Please take some time to click here to and find a blood donation center near you.

Working Together

I am encouraged to see that many of our communities here in the Tenth District are continuing to come together in the wake of George Floyd's tragic death. Click here to read a thoughtful letter from Mount Holly City Manager Danny Jackson. I am thankful for his leadership and everything he has done for Mount Holly throughout his 33 years of service to the city.

I would also recommend watching this video with Gastonia native Harold Varner, III and PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. They discuss the nationwide protests about social injustice and what we can do to come together and be a part of the solution. Click here or on the image below to watch. Harold is also playing in this weekend's tournament so please join me in wishing him good luck!
