Hearing From You

This week, I enjoyed hearing from some of you as I held a telephone town hall for Tenth District constituents. Thank you to everyone who joined to ask questions and to hear about what is happening in Washington, including what is being done to address the coronavirus pandemic. I always appreciate the dialogue with my constituents in the Tenth District. Click here or on the image below to listen to last week's telephone town hall.

A Win For Western North Carolina

On Tuesday, President Trump signed the Great American Outdoors Act into law, which is great news for western North Carolina. This law permanently reauthorizes the Land and Water Conservation Fund and addresses the maintenance backlog in our national parks, which will ensure access for future generations and protect the vital economic role these lands play in our communities. Click here or on the image below to watch the speech I delivered on the House Floor in support of this legislation. You can learn more about how this law will help western North Carolina by clicking here.

Your Response is Needed!

If you haven’t already responded to the Census, time is running out! The 2020 Census ends on September 30th and approximately 4 million North Carolinians still need to be counted. Remember each response helps to ensure our communities here in the Tenth District and across our state receive the funding and resources we need. Respond today by visiting or calling 844-330-2020 and remember to remind friends and family that their response is needed too.

President Donald J. Trump Announces Presidential Excellence Awards in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering

The White House

Congratulations to one of the Tenth District’s very own—Chase High School teacher Jill Francis—on receiving a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The PAEMST is the highest award given by the U.S. government to teachers of mathematics and science and recognizes Mrs. Francis as one of the best teachers in our nation. I am grateful for her work and dedication to her students at Chase High School.

Payrolls increase by nearly 1.8 million, topping expectations despite coronavirus resurgence

Although we still have a lot of work to do to help businesses and workers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. economy generated 1.8 million jobs last month. The latest jobs report beat expectations for the third month in a row and brings the total increase in hiring since reopening to 9.3 million jobs.
