A Busy Week in the Financial Services Committee
On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing with Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. During the hearing, I was joined by my fellow Committee Republicans in discussing the state of the international financial system and holding the Biden Administration accountable for the Treasury Department’s international activities, specifically those at the international financial institutions. Last week also marked the tenth anniversary of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act of 2012. In honor of the anniversary I hosted a roundtable to reflect on the law’s effectiveness in spurring capital formation and look ahead to how Congress can build on its success. I also released a report that discusses how the bipartisan JOBS Act came together in a divided government, as well as how the law helped spur capital formation and job creation by reducing regulatory barriers and creating new avenues within our securities laws for small businesses to raise capital.
