Elkin native serves aboard floating airport USS Carl Vinson
The Elkin Tribune
Petty Officer 1st Class Schon Reece, a native of Elkin is currently serving the U.S. Navy aboard one of the world’s largest warships, the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. The ship has 5,000 sailors serving on board and, when the air wing is embarked, it carries more than 70 attack fighter jets, helicopters, and other aircraft, all of which take off from and land aboard the carrier at sea. Please join me in thanking Petty Officer 1st Class Reece and all of the brave men and women in the U.S. military for their service to our nation.
The SEC's Climate-Change Overreach
The Wall Street Journal
Last week, I published an op-ed with former SEC Chair Jay Clayton in The Wall Street Journal outlining how it is the role of Congress—not unelected and ill-suited financial regulators—to set the environmental policy of the U.S. The op-ed was written in response to the SEC’s proposal to mandate disclosure of mostly immaterial information related to climate change. This proposal is the latest example of the Biden Administration pushing its far-left climate agenda through financial regulators because they don’t have the votes to pass it in Congress. You can read my full statement on this radical proposal by clicking here.
