Responding to Putin's Invasion of Ukraine
On Thursday, the House Financial Services Committee held markups of several bills to further isolate the Putin regime from the international financial system in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. During the markup, I delivered opening remarks to emphasize the importance of holding Putin and Russia accountable while also helping the people of Ukraine. This is vitally important not just because of Russia; we must also remember China is watching too. Any sign of weakness or unwillingness to support other democracies around the world will be noted, and potentially exploited, by growing threats like the Chinese Communist Party.
