Honoring Our Law Enforcement

This week we honor the brave men and women in blue who dedicate their lives to keeping our communities safe as we recognize National Police Week. Western North Carolina is blessed to have countless committed law enforcement officers who protect and defend us each and every day. Click here to watch this great video from WBTV highlighting one of the Tenth District's own, Deputy Christy Clark, and all of her hard work to make Cleveland County a safe and wonderful place to live. Please join me in celebrating National Police Week and thanking all our Tenth District officers for their service.

Every day law enforcement put their lives on the line to protect us. In 2017 alone, 135 police officers were killed in the line of duty. This week, in honor of National Police Week, the House passed the Protect and Serve Act. This bill will help protect the brave men and women in blue who protect our communities right here western North Carolina and all across the country. Senator Thom Tillis compiled this list of NC law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year. May they never be forgotten.

Supporting Our Veterans

Too often the VA has failed to provide our veterans with the care they deserve. This week, the House voted to change this with the passage of the VA MISSION Act. This important bill includes reforms and funding for the CHOICE program to help ensure our nation’s heroes receive the best care our nation has to offer. Click here or on the image below to read my full statement on this important legislation that will help veterans here in the Tenth District and all across the country.

Tax Reform is Helping NC Businesses

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act continues to have a tremendous impact on people here in western North Carolina and all across the country. Click here to check out a list of North Carolina businesses who are using their savings from tax reform to give back to their employees, their customers, and their communities. In western North Carolina for example, Asheville company Benchmark Auto Sales is now able to provide health insurance for 100% of its employees thanks to tax reform. Click here or on the image below for a story from WLOS about how the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has helped Benchmark Auto Sales give back to its employees.
