Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Our Economy is Strong

The news about our economy keeps getting better and better. This September, our country had the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years. This means more Americans are finding work so they can support their families and communities. Click here or on the image below for a video courtesy of the Treasury Department on the good news found in the September jobs report.

National Cybersecurity Month

As the Ranking Republican of the House Financial Services Committee I believe that it is critical that we combat the growing threat of cyberattacks to our financial systems, our governments, and our communities. This October, for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, take steps to ensure that you and your loved ones have the resources you need to be safer and more secure online. You can learn more about how you can protect yourself online at home and at work by clicking here or on the image below.

What I Have Been Reading

National Guard soldiers excited, nervous as they prepare for deployment

Hickory Daily Record

Please join me in praying for this Hickory-based North Carolina National Guard company as they deploy to Kuwait. The 626th Support Maintenance Company includes soldiers from across the state who are leaving their family and loved ones as they travel overseas to serve their country. I am thankful for all the brave men and women of the U.S. Military and the sacrifices they make to help keep us safe.

White House says it won't cooperate with impeachment inquiry citing 'lasting institutional harm'

National Review

I agree with President Trump, House Democrats have been trying to impeach the President since this Congress began. Now they are willing to do anything—even ignore their duty to the American people—to focus on a partisan investigation that has no chance of succeeding. Instead, we should be working in a bipartisan fashion to secure our border, ratify the USMCA, or on any of the countless other priorities we could pursue that would actually help the American people.
