Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Protecting Our Constitutional Rights

On Friday, the House voted on H.R. 1, the Protect the People Act, which is irresponsible and dangerous legislation that suppresses the rights of American voters and will cost taxpayers billions of dollars. Click here or on the image below to find out why I strongly oppose this legislation and voted against it. You can also click here to watch a video courtesy of Leader McCarthy to learn more about three of this bad bills most outrageous provisions.

Last Wednesday, I delivered a speech on the House Floor to denounce H.R. 1 as a partisan power grab that hurts American voters. Click here or on the image below to watch.

Holding the CFPB Accountable

This week the House Financial Services Committee held its semi-annual hearing to receive testimony from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director, Kathy Kraninger. During the hearing I had the opportunity to highlight the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act's creation of the CFPB in to one of the most powerful, and unaccountable bureaucracies ever. During my opening statement I commended Director Kraninger for her pledge to provide more transparency and to stop the Bureau’s ugly history of regulation by enforcement, while acknowledging that the agency still lacks oversight, accountability, and is in need of reform. Celebrating Women's History Month

Every March we celebrate the many contributions women have made in the United States and all across the world. It is also an important reminder to honor all of the important women in our own lives that work hard every day to make this country great. Click here to read stories of some of the incredible women and the contributions they have made to our country throughout our history.

Please join me in praying for the family and loved ones of former Congressman Ralph Hall as they mourn his passing. I was honored to serve in the House with Ralph, the last WWII veteran to serve in Congress. He will be missed.

 Firefighter keeps giving back

Gaston Gazette

I enjoyed learning about the wonderful charitable work of Union Road Volunteer Fire Captain Robert Heussy. Not only does he serve his own community as a firefighter but he is also dedicated to helping others across the globe. Captain Heussy collects gear for firefighters in Nicaragua, to ensure that they have all the proper equipment they need as they serve their own communities. Thank you for your service!
