Protecting the Unborn

On Tuesday, I was proud to join my colleagues to try and force floor consideration on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This important bill will help ensure that every child born alive during an abortion is provided the life-saving procedures needed for them to survive. In the face of the Democratic Party’s continued embrace of late-term abortions and infanticide it is more important than ever to protect God’s greatest gift, life. Supporting Jobs and Education in the Tenth District

I was able to end my busy week back home in North Carolina visiting some of the companies and schools that make the Tenth District great. Friday morning, I was honored to attend the grand opening of TechWorks of Gaston County. TechWorks is hybrid business incubator and gigabit technology center that will help spur innovation and entrepreneurship, create jobs, and provide overall economic growth for Gaston County.

I spent Friday afternoon in Spindale touring Isothermal Community College's new Applied Sciences and Workforce Development Center.

I also had the opportunity to visit White Oak Carpet, which creates custom designed carpets right here in Rutherford County.

Modernizing the IRS

On Monday, I introduced a bill that will help bring the IRS in to the 21st century by allowing businesses and consumers to access accurate credit assessments more efficiently. Innovation in financial services has created more convenient and secure ways to meet the demands of American consumersOur federal government needs to do a better job at keeping up with financial innovation by updating and securing its technology. This legislation brings us one step closer to making lending more accessible for all Americans. Click here or on the image below to read my full statement and learn more about the bill I introduced.

PGA touring pro Harold Varner hosts high school golf tournament at Cramer Mountain Country Club

Gaston Gazette

Although Harold Varner is now a pro golfer touring the world he hasn't forgotten how great it is to be able to call western North Carolina home. On Friday, he even hosted his inaugural HV3 Foundation high school golf tournament to inspire other young golfers on the same course he grew up playing as a student at Forestview High.

South Mountain State Park sees new growth after the 2016 wildfire

Shelby Star

Despite the devastation caused by the Chestnut Knob Fire over two years ago we are now seeing some positive impacts thanks to the brave men and women who worked tirelessly to contain the fire. I am thankful for their service and their hard work to keep western North Carolina safe.
