Happy Thanksgiving!

This year, our community has faced many hardships as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. I know many of you are missing the tradition of gathering together with friends and loved ones during this holiday. Despite these challenges, I am thankful for the many ways our community has continued to support one another. From the health care workers and first responders who are on the front lines battling to keep us safe and healthy, to the teachers and parents who found new and creative ways to educate our children, to the many businesses and organizations that switched gears to manufacture personal protective equipment, launch food drives, and provide support to the most vulnerable, we have so much to be thankful for.

May God continue to bless our communities and our country. From our home to yours, Giulia, Cece, Rese, and I wish everyone a happy, safe, and healthy Thanksgiving. God bless.

Celebrating Small Businesses Saturday

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday, a great opportunity to shop for the holidays and support the many small businesses that call the Tenth District home. They play an important role in our communities, serving and employing our families, friends, and neighbors across western North Carolina. The devastating impact the coronavirus has had here at home means that now, more than ever, our local businesses need our support. Ordering to go from your favorite local restaurant, shopping online, or purchasing gift cards to use later are just some of the ways you can support small businesses here in the Tenth District.

Honoring Our Military and Their Loved Ones

All around the world the brave men and women of our Armed Forces are fighting to defend our freedoms. These men and women have sacrificed time with their family and loved ones so we can be with ours. This month is Military Family Appreciation Month, a time to honor and recognize the unique sacrifices and challenges family members make in support of their loved ones in uniform. As we celebrate Thanksgiving, please join me in praying for all who serve and their families. We are thankful for your service.

Court helps wounded vet find redemption after DWI charge

This is a touching story about how an attorney and a local judge were moved to help get a decorated veteran back on his feet after hearing his heartfelt apology while facing a DWI charge in court. Judge Craig Collins and others in the courtroom decided to raise money to pay for the tools the vet needed to get back to work. This is a wonderful example of the many ways the Tenth District community comes together to help those in need.
