Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

The 2020 Presidential Election
Since George Washington became the first president of the United States, every four years, the American people have had the opportunity to make their voices heard and elect their president. I agree with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's statement below. Ultimately we must diligently protect our republic and the rule of law. All federal and state election laws need to be complied with. The sanctity of our citizen’s votes is and always will be essential to our system of government and the integrity of our elections must be preserved.

Honoring Our Nation's Veterans
Every November 11th since 1954, our nation has observed Veterans Day to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served in our nation's military. The Tenth District is home to almost 50,000 veterans alone. Although we will be celebrating Veterans Day this Wednesday, we should thank our veterans for their service every day. I am grateful for everything these heroes have done to defend our freedoms and keep our country safe. God bless all our men and women who have served.

As we head to a new Congress, House Republicans' Commitment to America is stronger than ever. Our commitment is a promise to continue working to uphold our country as the greatest place in the world to call home. We must restore our normal way of life by defeating the coronavirus, rebuild our economy to its pre-pandemic heights, and renew the American Dream so everyone has the opportunity to succeed in this great nation. Click here or on the image below to learn more about House Republicans' Commitment to America.

Job growth stronger than expected in October, unemployment rate slides to 6.9%

With over 600,000 jobs added and the unemployment rate falling to 6.9%, the October jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor is another clear sign that our economy is on the road to recovery. We must continue our efforts to defeat the coronavirus and get the American people back to work.
