Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Let's Work

I believe in bipartisan solutions that will help to ensure we defeat the coronavirus and get the American people back to work. Unfortunately, House Democrats have continued to play political games, instead of helping our communities that are still struggling from the impact of the pandemic. Click here or on the image below to watch a video from the House Republican Conference highlighting the House Democrat's refusal to work together to help overcome the challenges our workers and families are facing.

Good News In Our Battle Against the Coronavirus

This week we received some more good news in our efforts to combat the coronavirus. First, Moderna announced on Monday that its experimental vaccine was 94.5% effective in preventing the coronavirus. Then, on Friday, Pfizer submitted their coronavirus vaccine candidate to the US Food and Drug Administration for an emergency use authorization, which means a vaccine could potentially be available for use in high-risk populations in the United States by the middle to end of December. Thanks to President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed we are seeing the power of American innovation at work in our efforts to develop a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine. Click here to watch this week's White House Coronavirus Task Force briefing, which detailed the current alarming spread of the pandemic and outlined how the vaccine distribution process, pictured below, will take place.

Gaston County restaurants vow to help injured officers

Gaston Gazette

Every day, law enforcement men and women help to keep our communities safe. It is great to see how one local restaurant is giving back to two of these brave men. Please join me in thanking all of our law enforcement officers for helping to protect our neighbors and loved ones.

OCC seeks to bar banks from shunning disfavored industries

American Banker

Last week, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) proposed a new rule to ensure fair access to financial services for lawful businesses. No lawful company should be denied a bank loan because Democrats are relying on naming and shaming to achieve their partisan goals. Now more than ever, job creators of all sizes need to be able to work closely with their banking partners to ensure their businesses can survive and recover from the economic disruption caused by the pandemic.
