Congressman McHenry Weekly Update Financial Services Committee Hearing with Federal Reserve Chair Powell On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Committee held its semi-annual hearing with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. During my opening remarks I called on the Federal Reserve to reaffirm their commitment to bring down skyrocketing prices. As Americans continue to struggle under the weight of Democrat-induced inflation, the Federal Reserve must stick to its narrow mandate—achieving sound money—rather than engaging in social policies pushed by the progressive left. Watch my opening remarks by clicking here or on the image below. Before the hearing I joined CNBC’s Squawk Box where I called on the Fed to be laser focused on price stability. I also highlighted how Democrats' reckless spending has fueled inflation, even as President Biden continues to mislead Americans with claims of fiscal responsibility. Celebrating Senator Rauch's 100th Birthday on the House Floor

On Thursday, I delivered a speech on the House floor pay tribute to one of North Carolina's great statesmen, Marshall Rauch in recognition of his 100th birthday. From his successful business to his time as a State Senator, Senator Rauch has led a life of service to the Tenth District. Thank you for everything you have done for our community, Senator Rauch. Watch Thursday's floor speech by clicking here or on the image below. You can read more about former Senator Rauch here courtesy of the Gaston Gazette.

Combatting D.C.'s Soft-on-Crime Law

Crime is skyrocketing across the country and our nation’s capital is no exception. Unfortunately, the majority of the House Democratic caucus voted against a resolution to stop a D.C. soft-on-crime bill that would eliminate mandatory minimums and reduce sentences for criminals in Washington, D.C. I am grateful the House and Senate were able to come together last week to exercise our Constitutional duty and prevent this dangerous law from going into effect.

Green shoots: Textile mill renovation weaves new hope in Bessemer City

Business NC

It is great to see how an old and rundown textile mill that was once a vital part of the Tenth District, is once again taking an important role in revitalizing downtown Bessemer City.  After having spent 99 years as a textile mill, followed by another 28 years of disuse, the old mill will soon be transformed into 139 apartments to help bring new residents and spur new investments in the area.

LSU record breaker in swimming was first a star at Chase High

Rutherford Weekly

Congratulations to former Chase High swim champion, Jenna Bridges for not only bringing home a win for her team, but also breaking a school record at LSU.  It is no surprise that Jenna is continuing to break records as she was a three-time state champion in the 100-yard butterfly while at Chase High School in Rutherford. Please join me in wishing good luck to Jenna at the NCAA Championship next week!
