Congressman McHenry Weekly Update Honoring Senator Broyhill On Monday, I delivered a speech to honor the life and legacy of a North Carolina legend: former U.S. Senator and Congressman James T. Broyhill. As a native of the Tenth District he is fondly remembered for his service to the people of western North Carolina. I join a grateful state and nation in extending my condolences to Senator Broyhill’s family as they mourn. Combatting the Biden Administration's Rising Prices

This week, the REIN IN Inflation Act—a bill I’m an original cosponsor of—passed the House. As rising prices continue to make everyday life unaffordable for families and workers across America we need real solutions, not false claims that far-left policies are working. An unacceptable number of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck in Joe Biden's economy. This bill will force the Biden administration to confront the economic realities of its misguided proposals and act to deliver much needed transparency for the American people. The Crisis Continues at Our Southern Border

Thanks to the Biden administration's reckless border policies, the crisis at our southern border has continued to get worse. We are just four and a half months into Fiscal Year 2023 and already there have been over one million illegal encounters at our southern border, a 20% increase from the same time a year before. And that doesn't even include the more than 300,000 illegal immigrants that have already evaded apprehension at our Southern Border so far in Fiscal Year 2023. These numbers are shocking and unacceptable. We must secure our southern border.

'It's all about convenience:' Potential App State students weigh in on Hickory campus

Hickory Daily Record

Recently, App State held an informational session at their new Hickory campus where students could learn about admissions and various programs the university plans to offer when it opens to students in the fall semester. This will be ASU’s largest university building and will give the Catawba County community access to a premier education right in their own backyard. It is great to see students are already taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity!
