Combatting Woke Policies in the House Financial Services Committee

On Friday, I joined The Pete Kaliner Show on WBTV to discuss my priorities as Chairman of the Financial Services Committee, including combatting the woke policies and far-left agenda of House Democrats. For four years under Democrat rule, the Financial Services Committee was sidetracked by far-left social policy pet projects. The American people made it clear last November when they elected a Republican House majority that woke mandates and progressive posturing was not their priority. That’s why, one of my first acts as Chairman was to eliminate the Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee and prioritize a return to the issues that matter most to those I serve in the Tenth District and across the country. Celebrating School Choice

This week we celebrated National School Choice Week. It is a time to recognize the importance of school choice for our children and why we must empower parents in education so they can ensure their children have the tools they need to succeed.

This week, I was proud to cosponsor the Education Savings Accounts for Military Families Act of 2023. a This bill—which is led by Congressman Jim Banks in the House and Senator Ted Cruz in the Senate—will help military families ensure their children have access to a quality education. It is vital that our servicemembers—who have put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms—also have the freedom to choose the school that is the best fit for their children. Unleashing American Energy Independence

Since day one of his presidency, Joe Biden and his administration have been implementing far-left policies that undermine our national security. One specific example where he has made our nation vulnerable is by draining America's Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to its lowest level since 1984. This week, I joined House Republicans in passing a bill called the Strategic Production Response Act, which will force President Biden to implement a plan so we can finally unleash American energy independence and restore America's depleted Strategic Petroleum Reserves. 

A Record December at our Southern Border

Late last Friday, the Biden administration announced the December numbers for the southern border and—thanks to their reckless far-left policies—another record has been broken. Border Patrol encountered 251,487 illegal immigrants at the border in December, bringing the total to 5.6 million illegal immigrants crossing our border since Biden took office. These numbers are shocking and unacceptable. We must secure our southern border.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Friday's terrorist attack in Jerusalem where seven people, including a fifteen year old boy, were killed. Terrorism and hatred of others should never be tolerated. Please join me in praying for the loved ones of those killed and our sacred ally, Israel.
