Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Supporting Tenth District Small Businesses

During these uncertain times, we must do all that we can to support Tenth District small businesses and protect the vital role they play in our communities. This is why President Trump signed a bill to replenish the Paycheck Protection Program, a much-needed program that is saving millions of jobs and helping small businesses as we continue to combat the coronavirus all across the country. Now, as America begins to reopen, we must continue protecting the safety and health of our communities as we return to the businesses and jobs that make up our economy. Providing Updates in the Tenth District

Although I wish it could have been in person, I am thankful that I was able to join the Rotary Club of Hickory last week to provide a Congressional update during their weekly virtual meeting. Thanks to Club President Gerry Knox and Hickory Mayor Hank Guess for the invitation, and thanks as well to the forty Rotarians who participated.

Thank You to Our Heroes

Please join me in praying for our nation’s doctors, nurses, first responders, and public safety officers who are on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic. Also join me in praying for the farmers, grocery store workers, truck drivers, warehouse operators, and all those who work to keep our country running. I am so thankful for the Tenth District businesses and the workers who have been producing live-saving personal protection equipment, the churches and schools providing meals to their communities, and the many ways the Tenth District has come together to support one another. What I Have Been Reading

Furniture maker's employees volunteer to make masks, gowns

Hickory Daily Record

A Hickory furniture manufacturer has begun making personal protective equipment instead of the furniture that they normally produce. The Hickory HBF plant is making washable cloth masks and mask covers to be donated to local first responders like firefighters, health-care workers, and hospice workers. I am thankful for the many ways our community has continued to support one another in these uncertain times.

LC Public Library prints, donates 3D face mask holders

Lincoln Times-News

Although the Lincoln County Public Library is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic the library is still providing important resources to the community. Instead of checking out books to Lincoln County, the library is now using it's 3D printers to produce face mask holders for local health care workers.

Parade of Lights signals 'thank you' to hospital employees in Catawba County

Hickory Daily Record

It is always inspiring to see the ways our communities here in the Tenth District have supported one another during these challenging times. In Catawba County firefighters, police, and EMS participated in a parade of flashing lights that was timed for when hospital workers change shifts to thank them for standing on the front lines of the pandemic. I am thankful for all of our first responders and our health care workers as we combat the coronavirus in our communities.
