Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Helping to Combat the Coronavirus

On Wednesday, I voted for a coronavirus response package so we can ensure that communities here in western North Carolina and all across the country have the resources they need to help keep the American people healthy. I will continue to work with President Trump, health officials, and all those working hard to combat the coronavirus here in the US and around the world. Click here or on the image below to visit the CDC’s website on the coronavirus for resources, updates, and to learn more about what you can do to prevent its spread.

Discussing the Coronavirus and the Financial Transaction Tax

On Tuesday, I joined After the Bell on Fox Business to discuss how Congress is responding to the Coronavirus and working to ensure President Trump, health officials, and communities have the tools and resources they need to keep people healthy. I also had the opportunity to discuss the Financial Transaction Tax, a bad policy that would hurt American workers by forcing them to work longer before retiring while also paying more in taxes. For example, one study indicates that with the imposition of an FTT, a typical mutual fund investor may have to work an additional two-and-a-half years to achieve the same retirement goal. Click here or on the image below to watch Tuesday's interview.

This week, I also sent a letter to House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters calling for a hearing on the potentially devastating impact of the FTT, which you can read by clicking here.

Joining the President on Air Force One

On Monday, I had the honor of travelling with President Trump for a trip back home to North Carolina. Thank you for the ride on Air Force One Mr. President!

It was horrific to see the images coming from Tennessee and to hear about the tragedy and lives lost following last week's tornadoes. Please join me in praying for all those impacted by these devastating storms and for the people of Tennessee as they begin to rebuild.
