Congressman McHenry Weekly Update

Fed Chairman Hearing

This week, the House Committee on Financial Services held its semi-annual hearing with the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Jerome Powell, on monetary policy and the state of the economy. During the hearing I led my fellow Republican Members in highlighting the regulatory rightsizing championed by Congressional Republicans, the Trump Administration, and implemented by the Fed over the past year, which has played an important role in creating the best U.S. economy in modern history. Our Economy is Strong

During the State of the Union, President Trump highlighted our booming economy and how tax relief and trade deals like the USMCA are helping it continue to grow. The January jobs report is more proof of this good news. Not only were 225,000 new jobs added this month, January marked the 112th straight month of growth for the U.S. economy. The January jobs report is also proof that President Trump is fulfilling his promise to the American people to keep our economy strong. Watch this video to find out how by clicking here or on the image below.

Justice Department indicts four members of China's military for Equifax hack

CNBC

The 2017 Equifax breach jeopardized nearly 150 million Americans’ most sensitive and personal information. It was clear from the start that the bad actors behind this hack were dead set on causing harm to American consumers. The evidence in the indictment now shows the hack was a coordinated attempt by a foreign adversary to compromise and amass our personal data. Republicans will continue to offer proposals to not only safeguard our crucial credit reporting system, but to combat an aggressive China.
