Today, Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10) released the following statement on his vote against H.Res. 660, House Democrats’ resolution to authorize impeachment proceedings against President Trump:

"Democrats have proven time and time again that they are willing to do whatever it takes to undo the results of the 2016 election. First they tried the Mueller Report. When that failed to implicate the President in wrongdoing they moved on to selective leaks from secret hearings. Since that approach has failed to prove wrongdoing, we are now voting on investigative procedures that stack the deck against President Trump and go against years of precedent.

"We are now just twelve months away from the election, yet Democrats have chosen once again to put partisan, politically-motivated investigations over legislation that would help improve the lives of the American people. We are not voting on the USMCA. We are not voting to fund the military. We are voting on procedures for another investigation.

"Ultimately, we must not forget what today’s vote is really about: overturning the will of the American people.
