Today, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing to receive testimony from the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary, Ben Carson. In his opening statement Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10), the Ranking Republican on the House Financial Services Committee, applauded Secretary Carson’s efforts to bring much needed reform to the agency.

These reforms include the Secretary’s work as chair of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council to help distressed communities stimulate development and entrepreneurship through tools like Opportunity Zones, established by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
