Today, Chief Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry (NC-10) announced that he will be introducing a House Concurrent Resolution authorizing the use of the U.S. Capitol Rotunda for Reverend Billy Graham to lie in honor. The House of Representatives is expected to approve the measure during tomorrow’s pro forma session.

“In addition to spreading the gospel to millions around the world, Reverend Graham served as a spiritual adviser to countless American Presidents, and an inspiration to millions,” said McHenry. “In light of this work and his years of service to the United States, it is wholly befitting for our nation to honor Reverend Graham by according the honors of Laying in Honor in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. As Reverend Graham’s Representative in Washington, I’m honored and humbled to introduce the resolution to do just that.”

Introduction of the resolution follows this morning’s announcement from Speaker Paul Ryan (WI-01) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) that Reverend Graham will lay in honor in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, February 28th. That announcement can be found here.
