In these last days of the Lame Duck Congress, liberal Democrats in the House are fighting for an increase of the death tax, while their Senate counterparts are trying to push through a budget busting, pork-laden spending bill.

From the moment President Obama announced an agreement with Republican leaders on the extension of current tax rates, liberal Democrats in the House of Representatives have complained about the lack of tax increases on American families and small businesses. While there are some concerns about parts of the current tax deal, I am strongly opposed to any action that would result in a tax increase for all Americans in January. In the Senate, Democrats there are working to pass a separate bill that is loaded up with over 6,000 earmarks. The 2,000 page, $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill is just another example of why American voters rejected Democrats at the polls this past November. I have not requested any earmarks and will continue to fight against this kind of reckless, wasteful spending that is bankrupting our nation. -Patrick News on Tax Agreement News on Spending Bill Follow me on Facebook and Twitter for more updates. |
